This is a children's book that I read about 2000-2006 ish (I think), it was a children's book, no chapters, and it had colored illustrations that looked almost like they were water colored. The story involved a very ugly man who was married to a very beautiful wife. One day someone either asks the ugly man why the beautiful woman stays with him, or they ask the beautiful woman why she stays with the ugly man.

Also, at some point we learn that the little dip between the nose and the lips is where one of the Japanese gods placed their thumb so that a spirit would no longer remember heaven (?) when they were born into a human body.  

At this point the one who was asked (I think it was the ugly man, so I'm just going to use him for now) starts telling a story about how once in heaven (?) the ugly man's spirit was actually very handsome, and he was the pride of all the gods. His string of fate (?) was connected to a very ugly woman, though, (and she may have been very stupid. Not sure on that point.) and he felt bad for her, so he asked that he be made ugly, and she be made beautiful. 

The end involved the god in charge of putting their thumbprint against a spirit so they don't remember heaven being so repulsed by the ugly man's appearance that they don't give him the thumbprint, and he remembers all his time in heaven. 

Anyone know what this might be? All attempts to search for Japanese folklore/mythology direct me to creation myths, and myths about the Japanese pantheon, an trying to search for variations on ugly guy / hot wife don't actually really work that well. ^^;

Edit: It could be a Jewish story/Jewish folklore. I was in a Japanese school when I read it, so maybe I just got it mixed up?

This Wednesday, I went to PP to get a paragard inserted. I was very anxious and wanting to be off nuvaring because Ive been on it and previous other birthcontrol since I was 18 (now 25) and I wanted my libido back, along with my energy ect. So I went through the traumatic fitting twice because she wanted to make sure, but my uterus measure 12cm and I am not a good candidate. Im so sad about this. Im not sure why my uterus is so large and Im not sure what my non-hormonal options are now. I am in a commited relationship and getting engaged, but I don't want kids for at least another 4-5 years. What can I do?

OMG!  I spotted these on Sweetopolita's blog and I want them now. She calls them Highway to Heaven cupcakes.
